How do I get AI Insights for a campaign?
Click the AI button on a campaign row to get a written analysis of that campaign, a ROAS forecast for Meta, and a chat to ask follow-up questions.
Open AI Insights
- On desktop, find the campaign in the Ads Manager table.
- Click the AI button at the end of the campaign name (tooltip Get AI Insights).
- A window opens and shows AI Insights in Progress while the analysis is written, with a progress bar and changing lines such as Analyzing marketing performance metrics... This takes a moment.
The button is on campaign rows of every connected ad platform. Ad sets and ads do not have one.
What you get
The window shows the campaign name with the line Comprehensive analysis of your advertising campaign performance, followed by the analysis in four sections: Key Insights, Optimization Recommendations, Top Performing Ads and Underperforming Ads. Click a section to open or close it. The first two are open when the window appears. Key Insights starts with a budget recommendation, one of Increase Budget, Maintain Budget, Decrease Budget or Turn Off Campaign, and the reason for it.
Which numbers the AI works from depends on the ad platform:
- For a Meta campaign, the AI gets the numbers Meta itself reports for each ad of the campaign over the last 90 days, for up to 100 ads, fetched from Meta when you click the button. The sales TrueROAS tracked are not part of it.
- For other ad platforms, the AI gets the campaign's active ad sets with their active ads and the numbers your table shows for them in your date range. Paused ad sets and ads and the campaign's own totals are left out, so a campaign without active ad sets, such as a Pinterest campaign, gives the AI no numbers.
For Meta campaigns the window also shows a chart with the ROAS the AI expects for the next 7 days. It sits above the sections under 7-Day ROAS Projection, and its line, Next 7 Days Forecast for Purchase ROAS, is worked out from the daily purchase ROAS Meta reported for the campaign over the last 90 days.
Ask follow-up questions
Click Ask questions about your campaign. at the bottom of the window. You can click it once the analysis has loaded. A small chat titled Marketing Assistant opens with Hi! I'm your marketing assistant. Ask questions about your campaign here! Type your question in the Type your message... box and press Enter to send it. Shift + Enter starts a new line. You can ask about the same campaign, for example which ad set to scale or why the ROAS dropped.
For a Meta campaign the chat only sees the numbers Meta reports, not the sales TrueROAS tracked. The chat only answers questions about this campaign, and it tells you so when you ask about anything else.
Click Close when you are done. The chat is not saved, so the conversation is gone once the window closes.
If it does not work
Instead of the analysis, the window can show a box titled Action Required or Info.
- Action Required with The campaign data is too large for analysis. Please reduce your date range to show only the last 30 days or less of campaign data. For a campaign from an ad platform other than Meta, pick a shorter date range and click the AI button again. See How do I change the date range?. For a Meta campaign a shorter date range does not change what the AI gets, so the message comes back.
- Info with No insights available yet. Please try again. This also shows when the AI's answer could not be read. Close the window and click the AI button again. If the same message comes back, reload the page and try again.
Good to know
- AI Insights reads your data and writes advice. It does not change anything in your ad account.
- The analysis and the forecast are kept in your open browser tab for up to 24 hours. Clicking the AI button again on the same campaign in that tab shows the same analysis instead of writing a new one, even if you changed the date range. After 24 hours, or once you reload the page, open a new tab or use another device, a new one is written, and it can be worded differently.
- The figures in the analysis can differ from the row you clicked. For a Meta campaign the analysis ignores your date range, attribution model and attribution window. Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad gets credit for a sale.
- The ROAS forecast is for Meta campaigns only and is an estimate, not a promise.
- The AI button is not on the mobile campaign cards.
- You cannot run it for several campaigns at once or export the analysis.
