How do I teach Alert Agent what matters for my store?
Add notes on the Your Agents page and rate each alert email with Yes or No so Alert Agent learns which alerts are worth sending.
What Alert Agent uses to decide
Each day Alert Agent checks yesterday's ROAS against your sensitivity rules, and then decides for itself whether the change is worth an email. Before it decides, it reads:
- the facts TrueROAS has saved about your store, such as your target ROAS, your main channel and your busy and quiet seasons
- the alerts it sent you recently, and how you rated them
- the days it chose to stay quiet about a move that met your rules
- the notes you added on the Your Agents page
Trew Media Buyer and any AI tool you connect to TrueROAS can also save facts about your business there, so what you tell them can reach Alert Agent too. See What is Trew Media Buyer and how do I use it?.
You can teach Alert Agent in two ways: add notes on the Your Agents page, and rate the alert emails you get.
Add a note
A note is a short piece of knowledge about your store that Alert Agent reads every time it runs, for example "We run a big sale every November, so a drop in early December is normal."
- Open the Your Agents page. How to get there is explained in What is the Your Agents page and what can I do there?.
- Make sure the switch on the Alert Agent card is on. The box for notes only shows while Alert Agent is on.
- Under Teach this agent, type your note in the field What should it know? (e.g. 'We never discount over 20%').
- A Short name field and an Add button appear. Type a name for the note, or leave it empty and the note is called Note.
- Click Add. The note shows as a small label with its name. Hover over the label to read the whole note.
To remove a note, click the small x on its label. It is removed straight away, without asking you first.
- A note can be up to 2,000 characters long and its name up to 80. Longer text is cut off when it is saved.
- You can add up to 20 notes. With 20 notes, adding another shows This agent already has 20 items - remove one first.
- If a note cannot be saved, a red box on the card gives the reason.
Rate an alert email
- Near the bottom of an alert email, under Was this report helpful?, click Yes or No.
- A page opens in your browser asking Mark this report as helpful? or Mark this report as not helpful?, with your store and the date of the alert under it.
- Click Confirm. Nothing is saved until you do. Cancel takes you to the Dashboard instead.
- You see Thanks for the thumbs up! after a Yes, or a thank-you with Got it. We'll use this to make future alerts more useful for your store. after a No. Open Dashboard takes you to the Dashboard.
The rating is saved with that alert and with what TrueROAS knows about your store. The next time Alert Agent decides whether to email you, it reads your recent ratings. When you rated similar alerts No, it is more likely to stay quiet about the next one.
If you clicked the wrong button, click the other one in the same email and confirm. The alert keeps your latest rating, but your first rating is not removed from what TrueROAS knows about your store.
If the page shows one of these headings instead, the rating was not saved:
| Heading | What to do |
|---|---|
| This link is incomplete | Click the button in your alert email again. |
| This link can't be verified | Open your most recent alert email and try again. |
| Report not found | The alert no longer exists, so it cannot be rated. |
| Something went wrong | Try again in a few minutes. |
Good to know
- Notes and ratings are for the whole store. Everyone who gets the alert emails can rate them, without logging in to TrueROAS.
- Notes and ratings guide Alert Agent's decision, but they never change your sensitivity rules. To change how big a move has to be before Alert Agent looks at it, see How do I choose how sensitive Alert Agent alerts are?.
- A note cannot change when Alert Agent runs, and it cannot make Alert Agent send more than one alert a day.
- Notes stay saved when you switch Alert Agent off, and show again when you switch it back on.
- These notes are only read by Alert Agent. Trew Media Buyer does not see them.
- On a phone you cannot hover over a note, so you only see its name.
- When an alert you expected never arrived, see Why didn't Alert Agent email me when my ROAS changed?.
