How do I connect or change the ad account behind the Meta, Google and Tiktok tabs?
The Meta, Google and Tiktok dashboards show a connect box until that ad platform is connected and an ad account is picked for the store.
Where the connect box appears
On the Meta, Google and Tiktok dashboards, a box sits between the dashboard tabs and the row of controls that starts with Compare to. Before the ad platform is connected, the box shows a connect button. After that, it shows a list where you pick the ad account for this store. Once both are done, the box goes away and the cards of that platform load.
The box only appears on dashboards named exactly Meta, Google and Tiktok. If you rename one of them, its box no longer appears, and you connect from your profile picture instead, as described under Change the ad account later, below.
Connect Meta
- Open the Meta tab and click Connect Meta Ads.
- A Facebook window opens. Log in with the Facebook account that has access to your ad account, and allow the access TrueROAS asks for.
- The box now shows the Meta ad account field. Click it to open Choose Meta ad accounts. Your ad accounts load when it opens, which can take a moment.
- Tick your ad account and click Save. To find it, type in Search by name or ID. Each account shows its name, ID, currency and business. Accounts that Meta has disabled or closed show Disabled or Closed and are listed last.
The ad account is saved when you click Save.
The list shows the ad accounts your Facebook login has access to, including accounts your Business Managers own or manage for clients. If Meta only sends part of the list, you see We could only load some of your ad accounts. with Try again. To use more than one Meta ad account, see Can I combine several Meta ad accounts in one store?.
Connect Google Ads
- Open the Google tab and click Connect Google Ads.
- A Google window opens. Choose the Google login that has access to your Google Ads account and allow access. The button reads Processing... while TrueROAS saves the connection.
- The box now shows Select Google Ad Account. Click it and pick your Google Ads account. If your Google login has only one, it is picked for you as soon as the list opens.
The ad account is saved the moment you pick it. If the list stays empty, you see There are no Google Ads accounts available.
If the box says You are previously connected and need to reset your connection., open your Google account permissions, remove the access you gave TrueROAS, and click Connect Google Ads again.
Connect TikTok
- Open the Tiktok tab and click Connect TikTok Ads. TikTok opens in a new browser tab.
- Log in to TikTok Ads and allow access. TikTok then sends you back to TrueROAS in that tab.
- In either browser tab, open the Tiktok dashboard, click Select TikTok Ad Account and pick your ad account. If you have only one, it is picked for you as soon as the list opens.
The ad account is saved the moment you pick it. If the list stays empty, you see You have no TikTok ad accounts. Please check your TikTok Ads account.
Change the ad account later
Once an ad account is picked, the box is gone. To pick another one:
- Click your profile picture in the top right corner. It has a small gear badge.
- In the panel that opens, find the ad platform under Your ad accounts and click its list. For Meta, click the Meta ad account field.
- Pick the other ad account. Google Ads and TikTok save it at once. For Meta, tick it in Choose Meta ad accounts, untick the old one and click Save. The cards of that platform then load again.
Ad platforms you have not connected yet are under Add more in the same panel. Click one to connect it. You can also connect an ad platform on the Ad Platforms tab of General Settings, at the bottom of the left menu. See What is the Integrations page and what can I do there?. The ad account names next to your store name in the top bar only show what is picked; they cannot be clicked.
Each list also has these choices below the ad accounts:
- No ad account chosen stops loading that platform's numbers for this store but keeps the connection. The connect box comes back on the platform's tab. For Meta, untick every account in Choose Meta ad accounts and click Save instead; you see Ad accounts cleared.
- Disconnect removes the connection at once, without asking you to confirm. For Meta, it is the Disconnect Meta button at the bottom of Choose Meta ad accounts.
Warning: Disconnect in the Google Ads list also disconnects Google Analytics, because both use the same Google connection. If your store sends sales to Google Ads with Google Ads Enhanced Conversions through this connection, that stops too until you connect again.
Good to know
- A connection belongs to the login that made it and works for every store of that login, while the ad account is picked per store. Disconnect removes the connection from all those stores, also for team members who use it.
- Admins use their own connections, so an admin connects and picks the ad accounts for a store the same way the store owner does. Team Members and Store Access users use the store owner's connections and see the ad accounts the store owner picked.
- If you are a Team Member or Store Access user, the panel says you are using the store owner's ad accounts, marked Read-only, and you cannot pick another ad account or disconnect there. To use your own logins instead, switch to Mine in the same panel. See What do I do when my Meta or Google Ads connection stops working?.
- If you see Your Meta connection has expired. Please reconnect your Meta Ads account. or Your Google Ads connection has expired. Please reconnect your Google account. when you open a list, connect again. See What do I do when my Meta or Google Ads connection stops working?.
- For how the currency and time zone of your ad accounts affect your numbers, see Which currency and time zone do my numbers use?.
- You can pick one Google Ads account and one TikTok ad account per store.
