What is Feed Ad Platforms True Data in General Settings?
The section at the top of General Settings and Integrations has cards for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and Klaviyo that open the Events Manager settings.
Where you find it
Feed Ad Platforms True Data is a shortcut to the settings that send your orders and store events to the ad platforms. You find the same section in three places:
- General Settings at the bottom of the left menu. The page it opens is titled Account Settings, and the section sits at the top of the Ad Platforms tab, which opens first.
- The Feed to Ad Platforms tab inside the Data Settings tab of that same page.
- The top of the Integrations page, under Setup in the left menu.
It changes the same store settings as Events Manager, so a change in one place shows in the other. For the full page, see What is Events Manager and what can I do there?.
What the section shows
- The heading Feed Ad Platforms True Data and the text Start sending back data to the ad platforms using TrueROAS data, so that the ad platforms can optimize and easier find your best customers. Hovering over the icon next to the heading shows This feature is an ongoing development. We are undergoing testing and refinement and may have potential instability.
- On the Pro and Premium plans, a green bar reads Full CAPI coverage is included in your Pro plan or Full CAPI coverage is included in your Premium plan.
- Four cards: Meta, Google Ads, TikTok and Klaviyo.
When your plan needs the CAPI add-on, the cards are faded, cannot be clicked, and an offer titled Server-to-Server Enriched Feed sits on top of them. See Do I need the CAPI add-on to send events to ad platforms?.
The cards
A card can show a status at the top. Connected in green means the platform is switched on. When it is not switched on, Needs attention in red means something is missing or broken, and Off, subscription ended means the store's tracking stopped because its subscription ended. That last case is explained in Why are my newest orders or ad spend not showing yet?.
Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad gets the credit for a sale. The Klaviyo card sends that information to Klaviyo.
| Card | Next to the logo | Text on the card | Button |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta | A switch with Enhanced Meta CAPI, and under it Requires configuration, Currently active or Currently inactive | Configure server-side event tracking to Meta. | Configure, Reporting: ON or Reporting: OFF |
| Google Ads | A switch with Enhanced Conversions | Track your Google ads. | Configure, Reconnect Google, Requires Config, Reporting: ON or Reporting: OFF |
| TikTok | A switch with TikTok S2S | Track your TikTok ads. | Configure or Reporting: ON |
| Klaviyo | A switch with Klaviyo Sendback | Send attribution data to Klaviyo for better email marketing. | Configure, Reporting: ON or Reporting: OFF |
What the button labels mean:
- Configure: the platform is not set up yet. On the TikTok card it shows whenever TikTok is switched off.
- Reporting: ON or Reporting: OFF: the platform is switched on or off. Reporting: ON and Connected do not confirm that the platform accepted your events. For that, see What do the Meta numbers under Activity & health mean? and What does the Google Ads health section in Events Manager show?.
- Reconnect Google: Google stopped accepting the saved Google login. The card can still read Connected at the same time. See Why did I get an email asking me to reconnect Google Ads?.
- Requires Config: a Google Ads account is chosen, but no Google login is saved for sending.
- Subscription Required: TrueROAS found no active subscription. You can still click it and set things up.
- CAPI Add-on Required: your plan needs the CAPI add-on before the card can be used.
What the buttons open
Click a card's button to open its settings in a window.
| Card | Window | What is in it |
|---|---|---|
| Meta | Meta Conversions API | The same Meta settings and Activity & health as in Events Manager. See How do I set up Meta CAPI in Events Manager?. |
| Google Ads | Connect Google Ads Account | The Google settings and, once Google is on, their Activity & health section. See How do I send my sales to Google Ads with Enhanced Conversions?. |
| TikTok | Connect TikTok Ads Account | The same TikTok settings as in Events Manager. See How do I send my store events and purchases to TikTok?. |
| Klaviyo | Klaviyo Data Sendback | Connect Klaviyo, its own switch, Send Test Event once it is on, and Disconnect Klaviyo. See How do I connect Klaviyo to TrueROAS?. |
Switching a platform on or off
- Google Ads and TikTok: once the platform is set up, the switch on the card turns sending on or off straight away, without a confirmation. The Google Ads switch is greyed out until you have connected Google and chosen a Google Ads account for the store.
- TikTok: nothing is sent until you choose your TikTok ID in the TikTok window, even when the switch is on and the card shows Connected.
- Meta: open the card with its button and use the Meta CAPI switch inside the window. Turning Meta on or off asks you to confirm there.
- Klaviyo: open the card with its button and use the switch inside the Klaviyo Data Sendback window.
Good to know
- Everything here applies to the whole store, and it is the same setting as in Events Manager.
- AppLovin has no card here. It is in beta for selected stores and is only in Events Manager. See How do I send my purchases to AppLovin?.
- The Google window here has the same Value sent to Google box as Events Manager, with Leave out VAT, Leave out shipping and Optimize for profit instead of revenue. See Can I leave VAT and shipping out of the value sent to Google Ads? and Can I send profit instead of order value to Meta and Google?.
- The cards under Advertising Platforms, further down the same page, connect your ad accounts for spend and campaign numbers. They do not send events. See What is the Integrations page and what can I do there?.
- On a phone the cards sit one under another and each window fills the screen.
- What each platform receives and how often is in What does TrueROAS send to each ad platform, and how often?. If a platform seems to miss orders, see Why is an ad platform not getting my orders from TrueROAS?.
