What is the AI Journey Summary on Customer Journeys?
The AI Journey Summary writes a short read of how your customers move between sources, with key insights and one possible action.
What it shows
Under the numbers at the top of Customer Journeys, the AI Journey Summary writes two or three sentences about how your customers moved between sources in your date range. It says roughly what share of customers bought after one source and what share came back through several, and how Google Ads and Meta Ads show up in their journeys, or your strongest sources when neither shows up. When one path or hand-off stands out, it names that too. Key numbers are in bold.
- The summary starts a moment after the rest of the page has loaded. While it is being written, grey lines show under the heading AI Journey Summary, with a small spinner next to it.
- Click I want to learn more to open two more parts:
- Most important insights: usually three to five short findings, each with an arrow. A green arrow up marks a strength, a red arrow down a risk or weak spot, and a grey flat arrow a plain fact.
- Possible Action: one thing to try and why, with what could happen under Likely outcome.
- Click Show less to fold them away.
A line in italics under the text starts with Estimated from the visits we could track for and your dates. It goes on with Visits we can't see (new devices, private browsing) aren't counted, so single-source shares are likely a little overstated.
When there is no summary
- With fewer than 15 orders that came through a tracked marketing source in your date range, you see Not enough journeys in this period yet and a line starting with We need a handful of orders with a tracked marketing source before the patterns mean anything. Direct visits, draft orders and in-person POS sales do not count as a marketing source. Pick a longer date range, or wait for more orders.
- If the summary could not be written, a line starting with Couldn't generate insights appears with a Retry button. On a store that shows Inactive or Tracking off in the store list, no summary is written, so this line shows in its place and Retry does not change that. See Why are my newest orders or ad spend not showing yet?.
- Before you add a store, the block shows a fixed example.
Good to know
- The summary is written again each time you open Customer Journeys or pick other dates.
- Switching to another store folds Most important insights and Possible Action away.
- Only the totals of this page are used to write it, such as order counts, shares, source names, revenue and average times. Your customers' names and contact details are not part of it.
- Direct visits, draft orders and in-person POS sales are taken out of the journeys it reads, so it does not talk about them.
- It reads your numbers and writes advice. It does not change anything in your ad accounts or your store.
- It does not count toward your Trew usage. See How does Trew usage work and what does it cost?.
- You cannot ask it follow-up questions, turn it off or move it. For questions about your journeys, use Trew. See What is Trew Media Buyer and how do I use it?.
- The Dashboard has its own AI Summary, which works differently. See What is the AI Summary at the top of the Dashboard?.
- The split between one and several sources, the hand-offs between sources and the Google Ads and Meta Ads numbers it reads are also on the cards further down the page. See How do my channels work together before a customer buys?.
