How do I connect Drip to TrueROAS?
Paste your Drip API Token into TrueROAS to see which of your Drip newsletters and automations bring in sales and new customers.
Note: Drip is open to a small group of stores for now. If you don't see the Drip card, contact support.
Find your Drip API Token
- Log in to Drip.
- Go to Settings, then User Settings. You can also open getdrip.com/user/edit directly.
- Find API Token and copy the token.
Copy the token that is already there. Don't click Generate a New API Token: the old token stops working at once, and any other app that uses it breaks until you update it.
The token belongs to the Drip user who copies it. Use the token of someone who will stay on your Drip account, such as the account owner.
If you don't see API Token, API access is turned off for your Drip account. Ask Drip support at support@drip.com to turn it on.
Connect Drip
- Copy your Drip API Token, as described above.
- In TrueROAS, go to the Integrations page and find the Drip card under Advertising Platforms. The same card is in General Settings on the Ad Platforms tab.
- Click Connect on the card. The window Connect Drip opens.
- Paste your token into Drip API Token and click Connect Drip.
- If your token opens more than one Drip account, pick yours under Drip account and click Connect Drip again.
- A message confirms Drip connected.
If something goes wrong:
- Drip didn't accept this API Token. Copy it again from your Drip user settings. The token is wrong or no longer works.
- This API Token has no Drip accounts. Use the token of a user who has access to your account. The token belongs to a Drip user with no account.
- Drip is busy right now. Try again in an hour. Drip limits how many requests it answers each hour.
See your best emails
Add the Drip Emails card to your dashboard. Click Edit Dashboard, then Add Metric Here. See How do I add, move, resize and remove cards on a dashboard?.
The card is titled Best performing emails and has one row per newsletter or automation. Use the menu at the top right to show All emails, Automations or Newsletters. Each row shows:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| The name in Drip, whether it is a newsletter or an automation, and how many it sent. | |
| Sales | On top, the sales TrueROAS credited to this email. Under it, what Drip reports. |
| Orders | Orders TrueROAS credited to this email. |
| New customers | How many of those orders came from first-time buyers. |
| Opens and Clicks | The share of delivered emails that were opened or clicked. |
Crediting a sale means deciding which marketing touch gets the order. TrueROAS and Drip do this in their own ways, so their two numbers can differ.
Drip's sales are also added to the number under Email on your dashboard's channel table.
Make sure orders match the right email
Clicks from Drip emails count as email even when a link has no tracking tags. To credit an order to one email, TrueROAS needs the link's utm_campaign to match the email's name in Drip. Upper and lower case and spaces don't matter.
Orders from Drip links that match no email name are listed as Other Drip orders, so your totals still add up.
Disconnect Drip
Click the button on the Drip card, then Disconnect Drip, and confirm with Disconnect. TrueROAS deletes your saved token and stops showing Drip's numbers.
Good to know
- The connection is for the whole store, and only people who can change integrations can connect or disconnect it.
- Treat your API Token like a password. It can open your Drip account.
- You can't see the separate steps inside an automation. An automation is one row.
- TrueROAS doesn't send anything to Drip yet. It only reads your email numbers.
- You can only connect with an API Token for now. Signing in with your Drip login isn't available.
