How do I send my purchases to AppLovin?

Add your AppLovin ID and Conversion API key in Events Manager so TrueROAS sends every purchase to AppLovin from our servers.

What it does

TrueROAS sends each purchase from your store to AppLovin from our servers. AppLovin uses these purchases to count results and to find more buyers like yours. This works even when a shopper's browser blocks tracking.

AppLovin is in beta and only switched on for selected stores. If you do not see the AppLovin card in Events Manager, email hello@trueroas.com and ask to join the beta.

Find your Conversion API key

  1. Open AppLovin Ads Manager.
  2. Click your account in the top-right.
  3. Select Keys.
  4. Copy the Conversion API key.

You also need the ID of the AppLovin tracking tag on your website. If you cannot find it in AppLovin Ads Manager, ask AppLovin support for your tag ID.

Turn it on

  1. Open Setup in the left menu and click Events Manager. The page is explained in What is Events Manager and what can I do there?.
  2. Click the AppLovin Conversions API card, then Setup.
  3. Paste your tag ID into the first field, then your key into Conversion API key.
  4. Click Save. The status changes to Ready. Turn on sending below to start.
  5. Turn on Send purchases to AppLovin.

The status then reads Sending your purchases to AppLovin. Each order reaches AppLovin within about 30 minutes.

After saving, the key shows as Saved key ending in and its last four characters. Click Replace to paste a new key.

If TrueROAS says this is your Report Key

AppLovin shows two keys on the same Keys page. The Report Key imports your spend and campaigns and belongs on the Integrations page, see How do I connect AppLovin?. Purchases need the Conversion API key.

TrueROAS checks the key with AppLovin when you click Save. If you pasted the Report Key, you see This is your AppLovin Report Key and nothing is saved. If a saved key stops working, the status shows Not working and no purchases are sent until you click Replace and paste the Conversion API key.

Avoid counting purchases twice

If your website also sends purchases to AppLovin with AppLovin's own tag, check AppLovin for duplicate purchases on the first day. TrueROAS sends each purchase with your order number so AppLovin can match the two, but check that it does.

Good to know

  • The setting applies to the whole store.
  • Some plans need the CAPI add-on before you can send purchases. See Do I need the CAPI add-on to send events to ad platforms?.
  • Only purchases are sent. Page views, add to carts and leads are not sent to AppLovin.
  • An order is only sent when it has the shopper's email, phone number or customer ID, and the IP address, browser and page address from their visit.
  • When you turn it on, TrueROAS also sends orders from the last 6 days that it has not sent yet. Older orders are not sent.
