Do I need the CAPI add-on to send events to ad platforms?

On the Basic, Scale and agency plans, sending events from Events Manager is an add-on with free days to try it, while Pro and Premium include it.

Which plans need it

The CAPI add-on lets TrueROAS send your sales and store activity to the ad platforms from its own servers, as described in What is Events Manager and what can I do there?.

  • On a Basic, Scale or agency plan, you need the add-on before you can use the platform cards in Events Manager.
  • The Pro and Premium plans include it. How the plans compare is in What is the difference between the Basic, Pro and Premium plans?.
  • Other plans, and stores that pay for TrueROAS through Shopify, are not asked for the add-on.

What you see without it

In Events Manager:

  • The box at the top shows Server-to-Server Enriched Feed, Send data back to all ad platforms. and ~17% conversion uplift (source: Meta). On an agency plan it also says the add-on is billed per store and includes every platform.
  • Under that you see the add-on's price for your billing period, a tag such as 7 days free and a Try it Free button.
  • The platform cards are faded and cannot be clicked, and the Get Started button is hidden.

In General Settings > Ad Platforms and on the Integrations page, the Feed Ad Platforms True Data cards are blurred behind a box with the same offer, which reads 15-17% conversion uplift (source: Meta). The buttons on the cards read CAPI Add-on Required and cannot be clicked. See What is Feed Ad Platforms True Data in General Settings?.

Start the free days

  1. Click Try it Free, in Events Manager, in General Settings or on the Integrations page.
  2. The window Confirm CAPI Add-on opens. It says The Server-to-Server Enriched Feed add-on will be added to your current subscription., shows the price after Pricing: and says how many days you get free.
  3. Click Confirm & Start Free Trial. Cancel closes the window without adding anything.
  4. You see a message such as CAPI add-on activated! 7 day free trial started. The offer goes away and you can click the platform cards.

Next, switch on a platform, for example as described in How do I set up Meta CAPI in Events Manager?.

Free days and price

  • If your subscription is still in its free trial, the add-on is free for the days left in that trial. Otherwise it is free for 7 days.
  • After the free days, the add-on is billed as part of your subscription. The price shown before you confirm is for one store.
  • The price follows your subscription's billing period, so you pay monthly, quarterly or yearly, the same as for your plan.

If it does not work

  • Retry in Events Manager means TrueROAS could not look up the price, for example because no active subscription was found. Click it to try again.
  • Add CAPI shows instead of the price when TrueROAS cannot find the billing account behind your plan. It opens your billing settings.
  • In General Settings and on the Integrations page, View Plans shows when no active subscription is found and opens your billing settings. Retry shows for any other problem.
  • You already have the CAPI add-on! means the add-on is already on your subscription.
  • If the change does not go through, a red message says so, for example Failed to add CAPI add-on. Please try again.

Good to know

  • The add-on is added to the subscription that pays for this store, and it unlocks every card in Events Manager, Klaviyo and AppLovin included.
  • The add-on is charged per store. Once a day, while at least one of the store owner's stores has a platform switched on in Events Manager, Klaviyo included, TrueROAS sets the number of add-ons on the store owner's subscription to the number of those stores. Paused stores are not counted.
  • When you move to Pro or Premium, the plan change window tells you the add-on will be removed because the new plan includes it. See How do I upgrade, downgrade or switch my plan to yearly billing?.
  • The uplift percentages in the offer are general figures from Meta, not a measurement for your store.
  • There is no button in Events Manager to remove the add-on.
  • For your plan, card and invoices, see What can I see and do on the Billing tab in General Settings?.
