What do the settings on the Data Settings tab change?
See which Data Settings change your numbers, like the attribution model and branded campaigns, and which switches are saved but not used.
Open Data Settings
Click General Settings at the bottom of the left menu and open the Data Settings tab (Tell TrueROAS how to interpret and process your store's data.). It has three tabs and opens on the first:
- Customize Attribution
- Data Feeding Optimization
- Feed to Ad Platforms
The first two tabs have no Save button. Each change there is kept the moment you make it.
Customize Attribution
Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad gets the credit for a sale. This tab has three parts:
| Part | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Attribution Settings (Select the base attribution model for your campaigns.) | The same Attribution Model section as in Reporting Settings, with the list of models and the Attribution Window dropdown, and a currency field labelled Choose your currency. These change your numbers. See How do I change the attribution model and attribution window? and Which currency and time zone do my numbers use?. |
| Lower Google Ads Branded Campaign Impact | Gives your Google branded search campaigns less credit. This changes your numbers. See How do I mark my Google branded search campaigns?. |
| Advanced - fine-tune how attribution is calculated | Does not change your numbers. See below. |
Advanced
Click Advanced to open it. It only shows while the store uses the E-Commerce model or your store's custom model.
It holds Data-driven AI Optimization, Profit-Based Optimization, Funnel Stage Weighting, Visit Duration Impact, High Engagement Attribution, Purchase Timeline Analysis, Pre-Purchase Interaction Weighting, Multiple Visit Attribution, Cross-Device Attribution and Geographic Attribution.
Your choices here are kept, but TrueROAS does not use them when it works out your numbers. Whatever you pick, the numbers on the Dashboard, in the Ads Manager and in the report emails stay the same.
Data Feeding Optimization
On a Shopify store, this tab starts with two steps to do in your Shopify admin, 1. Set TrueROAS to "Always On" and 2. Enable TrueROAS Tracker Embed, under the note The TrueROAS Shopify app must be installed first before configuring these settings. The steps are explained in How do I turn on the TrueROAS Tracker app embed and Always on in Shopify?. Nothing is saved in TrueROAS when you follow them.
Under them, on every store, are two switches:
- Optimize based on TrueROAS attribution (Enable TrueROAS Enhanced Attribution Optimization)
- GDPR Friendly Attribution (Recommended for EU businesses) (Enable GDPR Friendly Attribution)
TrueROAS does not use these two switches. Turning them on or off does not change what TrueROAS sends to your ad platforms or how it handles your visitors' data.
Feed to Ad Platforms
This tab shows Feed Ad Platforms True Data (Start sending back data to the ad platforms using TrueROAS data, so that the ad platforms can optimize and easier find your best customers.), the same block as at the top of the Ad Platforms tab. See What is Feed Ad Platforms True Data in General Settings?.
Good to know
- The attribution model, the attribution window, the currency and the branded campaign list apply to the whole store, so everyone on the store sees the same numbers.
- Only the store owner or an admin can change the attribution model and window. Everyone else gets a message saying so, and nothing is saved.
- The time zone and the order options, such as tax and refunds, are in Reporting Settings, together with the attribution model, the window and the currency. See What is General Settings and what can I do there?.
- The old address /feedyourai opens this tab.
- On a phone, the three tabs scroll sideways.
