How do I see the latest orders and where they came from?

The Recent Orders card lists your last eight orders with their first and last touch, and opens the customer's visits when you click an order.

The Recent Orders card

The card is titled Recent Orders with the line Latest orders with attribution. Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad or channel gets credit for a sale. The card lists the eight newest orders of your date range, newest first, with four columns:

  • Order: the order number, with a New or Returning label. Hover over the label for New Customer or Returning customer with the number of orders.
  • Value: the order amount. When your store settings leave out tax or shipping, the amount is shown without them, with a note such as (excl. VAT $12) or (excl. Shipping $5). When your store settings take refunds off your sales, a refunded order shows the amount left after the refund, with a note such as (refunded $20). See Does TrueROAS include tax and shipping in my sales? and Can TrueROAS take refunds off my sales?.
  • First touch: the source of the customer's first visit before the order, as an icon and a name.
  • Last touch: the source of the last visit before the order.

Both touch columns skip direct visits. Direct only shows when TrueROAS found no other visit for the order.

In-person orders from Shopify POS never show in the card, and neither do unpaid draft orders or orders that failed, are pending or on hold, were cancelled or were moved to the trash.

When the period has no orders, the card reads No orders in this period yet. with a View all orders button that opens Order Flow, the page with every order of your store. When there are orders, a View all orders button sits over the bottom of the list and opens Order Flow too. See What is Order Flow and what can I do there?.

Open one order

  1. Click an order row.
  2. A window opens, titled with the order number. The first line reads how many orders the customer has placed and how much they spent in total, for example 3 orders and 420$ total spent by customer.
  3. Under it, a timeline starts with the order date and a paid icon, followed by every visit that led up to the order, newest first. Each visit shows its date and where the customer came from: an ad, an email, a search engine, a direct visit. Visits whose source is your own store or a checkout page are left out.
  4. Click Show customer navigation under a visit to see Page Navigation, the pages the customer opened during that visit.
  5. Close the window to go back.

Hover over a source such as Direct or Instagram in the timeline to read why an order lands there.

Good to know

  • The card is not on any standard dashboard. To add it, open Edit Dashboard and pick Recent Orders in Available Metrics. See How do I add, move, resize and remove cards on a dashboard?.
  • The card follows your date range. It always shows at most eight orders. For more, open Order Flow from Analysis in the left menu.
  • The first line in the order window, with the customer's orders and total spent, only shows when the order is linked to a customer.
  • In the half-width size, the columns are named First and Last and show icons only. How the card looks on a phone is explained in How do I use the Dashboard on my phone?.
  • The same timeline opens from the Ads Manager for the orders of one campaign. See How do I see the orders and customer journey behind a campaign?.
  • The card has no search, no sorting and no link to the order in Shopify.
