What is Product Attribution and what can I do there?
A tour of Product Attribution, from the date range and product search to each product's sales and the window that shows where its sales came from.
What Product Attribution shows
Product Attribution lists the products sold in your date range, with how much each one sold and how many items, and shows where the customers who bought each product came from.
Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad or channel gets the credit for a sale. On this page each order counts toward one source, as explained in How do I see which channels and ads sold a product?.
To open the page, click Analysis in the left menu, then Product Attribution. The page itself is titled Product Analysis.
The page from top to bottom
While your store is new or its setup is not finished, the setup card from the Dashboard, or the Import Historical Orders card, can show under the heading. See What does the setup card at the top of the Dashboard mean? and How do I bring in orders from before I installed TrueROAS?.
- The date range button in the top right corner. Every number on the page uses this period. The Recording since bar that sits under the button in the Ads Manager is not shown on this page. See How do I change the date range?.
- The Search products box, which finds a product by its name. See How do I search for a product and move through the list?.
- The product list, with one row per product and the highest Sales first. Each row shows Product, Sales in a green box, Top Source, Quantity Sold and Avg. Price, with a View Sources button on the right. What each number means is explained in What do the numbers in Product Attribution mean?.
- Click a row or its View Sources button to open the Product Details window, which splits the product's sales by every source its customers came from. See How do I see which channels and ads sold a product?.
- Under the list, Rows per page: and the arrows to the previous and next page, also covered in How do I search for a product and move through the list?.
While the list loads, you see ten grey placeholder rows, and the search box and the page controls are greyed out.
Good to know
- On the Basic plan, the page is blurred behind a box titled Product Insights with an Upgrade to Pro button, as explained in Why is a page locked behind Upgrade to Pro?.
- Every team member on the store can open Product Attribution, because Data Access is always on for every role. See What can team members see and change on the Dashboard and Ads Manager?.
- The date range is saved to your login and carries to the other pages, such as the Dashboard and the Ads Manager, so changing it here changes it there too. Other people on the store keep their own date range.
- The list loads when you open the page, switch store, change the date range, move to another page or change Rows per page:. It does not update by itself and there is no refresh button, so reload the page to see new orders. How soon a new order reaches TrueROAS is explained in Why are my newest orders or ad spend not showing yet?.
- On a phone the page works the same way. Each product's numbers wrap onto several lines under its name, and the Product Details window takes up most of the screen width.
- If the list shows products you do not sell, see Why does Product Attribution show products I don't sell?. If a product you sold is not listed, see Why is a product missing from Product Attribution?.
- The page has no export, no charts, no filter by channel, campaign or ad, and no sorting other than by Sales.
