How do I create, rename, make private or delete a dashboard?

In the editor you can add a dashboard, change its name and icon, make it private or primary, delete it, or bring back the standard dashboards with Reset.

The dashboard tabs

Every store starts with four dashboards: Summary, Meta, Google and Tiktok. They show as tabs to the left of the date range button, or above it on a phone. Click a tab to switch. To see what the four show, read Which cards are on the standard Summary, Meta, Google and Tiktok dashboards?.

  • Tabs named exactly Summary, Meta, Google and Tiktok always come first, in that order. Every other dashboard follows, the most recently changed first.
  • While the dashboards load, you see four grey placeholder tabs. When there are more tabs than fit, scroll the row sideways.

Create a dashboard

  1. Click Edit Dashboard.
  2. In the top bar, click New Dashboard (on a phone, New).
  3. A dashboard named New Dashboard with one empty section opens in the editor. Fill it by hand or with AI. See How do I add, move, resize and remove cards on a dashboard? and How do I build or change a dashboard with AI?.

The new dashboard has no icon and no star, and everyone on the store sees it from the start. To keep it to yourself, make it private as described below. Its tab appears right after the standard tabs. Each click on New Dashboard adds another dashboard; there is no limit.

Rename a dashboard and pick its icon

  1. In the editor, click the pencil icon next to the dashboard name (tooltip Edit dashboard name).
  2. Type the new name in the Dashboard Name field. Names can be up to 30 characters.
  3. Pick one of the eight icons under the field: Shopify, WooCommerce, a shop, Google Ads, TikTok, Meta, the TrueROAS logo or Pinterest.
  4. Click the blue save icon (a floppy disk) to save, or the red X to keep the old name.

A tab named Summary always shows the Shopify or WooCommerce logo, or a shop icon for other stores, whatever icon you pick. Once you rename it, the tab shows the icon you picked.

Renaming Summary, Meta, Google or Tiktok moves its tab in among your other dashboards. Renaming Meta, Google or Tiktok also changes where you connect its ad platform, as explained in How do I connect or change the ad account behind the Meta, Google and Tiktok tabs?.

Make a dashboard private or public

Dashboards are shared by the whole store. To keep one for yourself, click the open lock icon next to the name (tooltip Make Private). The lock closes, and only your login sees the dashboard; everyone else on the store does not get its tab. Click the closed lock (Make Public) to share it again.

A dashboard is either yours alone or shared with the whole store; you cannot share it with only some team members. The tabs do not show which dashboards are private.

Mark a dashboard as primary

Click the star icon (tooltip Make Primary) to mark the dashboard with a filled star. Click it again (Remove Primary) to clear it. The standard Summary and Meta dashboards start with a filled star. The star is saved for the whole store, and several dashboards can have one. It is only a marker and does not decide the tab order or which tab opens first.

Delete a dashboard

  1. In the editor, open the dashboard and click the delete icon next to its name (tooltip Delete Dashboard).
  2. The window Delete Dashboard asks Are you sure you want to delete with the name, and says This action cannot be undone.
  3. Click Delete to remove it for everyone on the store, or Cancel.

The editor then opens your first tab.

Until someone on the store changes or creates a dashboard, and again right after Reset, the store shows the standard dashboards as they are built into TrueROAS. Deleting Summary, Meta, Google or Tiktok at that point does not stick: the dashboard comes back at once. Change any dashboard first, for example move a card, and then delete it. When the store has no dashboards left, the four standard ones come back.

Reset every dashboard

Reset in the top bar of the editor opens Reset All Dashboards:

Warning: This action cannot be undone! This will delete all your custom dashboards and restore the default dashboard configuration. Are you sure you want to continue?

Click Reset All Dashboards to remove every shared dashboard of the store and your own private ones, including changes to the four standard ones. Private dashboards of other team members stay. You see Dashboards reset to default, the page reloads, and the four standard dashboards are back with the cards TrueROAS gives them today.

Good to know

  • Creating, renaming, deleting and resetting affect the whole store, not only your login. Only private dashboards are yours alone.
  • Every team member, whatever their role, can change, delete and reset the shared dashboards, and can make one private, which hides it from everyone else. The only way to keep others from changing a dashboard is to make it private. See What can team members see and change on the Dashboard and Ads Manager?.
  • The four standard dashboards can be edited, renamed and deleted like any other. Reset brings them back.
  • A deleted dashboard cannot be restored.
  • You cannot choose which dashboard opens first.
  • Dashboards cannot be reordered, copied or exported. They belong to one store and cannot be moved to another.
