How do I let a client pay for a store I set up?
Copy the billing link on a store's card in My Clients so your client pays for that store with your discount while you keep managing it.
When to use the billing link
Use the billing link when you added a store to TrueROAS with your own login and your client should pay for it from now on. Your client takes over the payment for that one store. You stay its owner and keep managing it.
For a client who will add their own store, send your invite link instead. See How do I invite a new client with my discount link?.
Copy the billing link from My Clients
- Open My Clients and find the store's card.
- Click Copy billing link for client at the bottom of the card. The button reads Copied billing link for 2 seconds once the link is copied.
- Send the link to the person who should pay for the store.
Each store has its own billing link, because the link names the store. The link does not expire.
The button only shows on the cards of stores your login added, and only while no client pays for the store and the store does not pay for TrueROAS through Shopify. It also shows on your own stores, so check that you copy it from the right card.
If the button does not change to Copied billing link, nothing was copied. Click it again, or try another browser.
Your client opens the link, logs in or creates an account, picks a plan and Monthly or Yearly, and pays on Stripe's payment page with your agency discount. What they see is described in How do I use the invite or billing link my agency sent me?.
If TrueROAS asks you to choose a plan first
When a store you added needs a plan and you have none yourself, TrueROAS opens a window that asks you to choose one, as described in How do I choose a plan and start my subscription?. If your client will pay for the store, you do not need to choose a plan. My Clients always opens, even while a store waits for a payment:
- Click Settings, the gear icon at the bottom of the window.
- Open My Clients from the left menu.
- Copy the store's billing link as described above and send it to your client.
Until your client pays, the store stays locked for you and for everyone else on the store who has no plan of their own.
What changes after your client pays
- Your client pays for the store from then on.
- You stay the store's owner and keep all your access to it.
- If your client is not on your team yet, they join it with the Store Access role for this one store, so the store appears in their store list. You find them on the Team tab in General Settings, where you can change what they can see. See How do I change a team member's role or permissions, or remove them? and What can team members see and change on the Dashboard and Ads Manager?.
- The next time you open or reload My Clients, the store's card shows Client paying and has no Copy billing link for client button. What each label on a card means is explained in What do the labels on a client card mean?.
Good to know
- The change applies to the whole store, not only to your login. If your client stops paying later, the store locks again for everyone on it who has no plan of their own, you included.
- Stores that pay for TrueROAS through Shopify cannot be handed over. Their card shows Shopify-billed and has no billing link. A client who opens an older billing link for such a store reads This store is billed through Shopify, so payment is handled there. Please contact your agency.
- If your client paid but the card still shows Copy billing link for client after you reload My Clients, contact support so they can check the payment. See How do I get help or contact TrueROAS support?.
- My Clients has no button to take the payment back from a client.
