What is the Dashboard and what can I do there?
A tour of the Dashboard page, from the dashboard tabs and the date range to the comparison, the AI Summary and the cards you can rearrange.
What the Dashboard shows
The Dashboard is the first page you see after logging in. It shows your store's sales, ad spend and return for one date range as cards, tables and charts. Open it from Dashboard in the left menu.
Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad or channel gets credit for a sale. Most cards show one big number. TrueROAS vs Meta Ads, TrueROAS vs Google Ads, TrueROAS vs TikTok Ads, the channel table and Top Creatives show two numbers: what TrueROAS tracked in your store and what the ad platform reports about itself. See Why don't my TrueROAS numbers match Meta or Shopify?.
The page from top to bottom
- An animated heading that welcomes you and then types a few lines, such as Your best ad creative is.... It is decoration, not your data. The browser tab reads Home - TrueROAS.
- While your store is being set up, a setup card with your progress and the next step. See What does the setup card at the top of the Dashboard mean?. A new Shopify store can get an Import Historical Orders card in its place. See How do I bring in orders from before I installed TrueROAS?. A login without a store sees No Stores Added with an Add New Store button instead.
- Banners, such as a Your first numbers are in card for some new stores, and a report banner when a new report is ready or still being prepared. See What are the banners and pop-ups above my Dashboard cards?.
- A bar about Meta CAPI, either Install Meta CAPI or Live. See What does the Meta CAPI bar at the top of the Dashboard mean?.
- The dashboard tabs: Summary, Meta, Google and Tiktok, plus any dashboard you created. Click a tab to switch. See How do I create, rename, make private or delete a dashboard? and Which cards are on the standard Summary, Meta, Google and Tiktok dashboards?.
- The date range button at the right end of the tab row. It is the same button as in the Ads Manager and uses the same saved dates. See How do I change the date range?.
- On the Meta, Google and Tiktok tabs, a box with Connect Meta Ads, Connect Google Ads or Connect TikTok Ads, or a list to pick the ad account, until that ad platform is connected and an ad account is picked. See How do I connect or change the ad account behind the Meta, Google and Tiktok tabs?.
- A row of controls: Compare to, the Incremental Attribution switch with its sliders icon (tooltip Configure sources and percentages), Export for AI, Share dashboard and Edit Dashboard.
- The AI Summary, a short written read of your period. See What is the AI Summary at the top of the Dashboard?.
- The cards. A dashboard is a set of sections, and each section holds rows of cards. Hover over a card's title to read what it shows. See What do the cards on the Summary dashboard mean? and What do the Meta, Google and TikTok cards mean?.
At the top of every page, a banner can warn that tracking is about to stop, or has stopped, because your subscription ended. See Why are my newest orders or ad spend not showing yet?. While numbers load, a thin progress bar runs across the very top of the screen.
The controls
- Compare to picks the period your numbers are compared with, and many cards show the change as a green or red percentage. See How do I compare with the previous period?.
- Incremental Attribution moves part of the sales from sources such as direct visits and email to the ads that most likely caused them. The switch and the settings behind the sliders icon are the same as in the Ads Manager. When it is on and sales were moved, a green label such as +$2,800 impact shows how much. See What is Incremental Attribution and how does it work? and How do I set up Incremental Attribution?.
- Export for AI downloads your channel numbers as a text file to paste into an AI tool. See What does Export for AI download?.
- Share dashboard makes a link that opens the dashboard without a login. See How do I share my dashboard with someone who has no login?.
- Edit Dashboard opens the editor where you add, move and remove cards. See How do I add, move, resize and remove cards on a dashboard?. To find a card that is not on your dashboard, see What is each card called in Available Metrics?.
Good to know
- The date range, the attribution model and the attribution window are shared with the Ads Manager. The Dashboard has no model buttons; change the model in the Ads Manager. See How do I change the attribution model and attribution window?.
- The date range, Compare to and Incremental Attribution are saved to your login. Other people on the store keep their own. What else team members can see and change is explained in What can team members see and change on the Dashboard and Ads Manager?.
- Which currency and time zone your numbers use is explained in Which currency and time zone do my numbers use?. Profit numbers use the costs you set in Cost Manager. See How do I add my product costs in Cost Manager?.
- The dashboards themselves, their tabs and their cards, are shared by the whole store. Everyone sees the same layout, except dashboards that were made private. Who can change them is explained in How do I create, rename, make private or delete a dashboard?.
- The connect box only appears on dashboards named exactly Meta, Google and Tiktok, so it goes away when you rename them. See How do I connect or change the ad account behind the Meta, Google and Tiktok tabs?. If your Meta ads run in more than one ad account, see Can I combine several Meta ad accounts in one store?.
- Cards do not all add up the same ad spend and costs, and a channel on the Dashboard can hold more sales than its campaigns in the Ads Manager. See Which ad spend and costs does each Dashboard card add up? and Why don't my Dashboard Meta or Google sales match the Ads Manager?.
- When Meta or Google Ads stops accepting the saved connection, that ad platform's numbers cannot load until the connection works again. See What do I do when my Meta or Google Ads connection stops working?.
- You can ask Trew Media Buyer about the numbers on this page. See What is Trew Media Buyer and how do I use it?.
- On a phone the page keeps every control. See How do I use the Dashboard on my phone?.
