How do I export my orders to a CSV file?
Export saves the orders loaded on the page as a CSV file, and Export all downloads every order of your date range in files of 750 orders.
Export the orders on the page
- Pick your date range. If you only want the orders of one channel, pick it in the Channel field too. See How do I change the date range? and How do I show only the orders from one channel?.
- Click Export, the button with the download icon to the right of the order count above the table.
- Your browser downloads a CSV file named generated.csv.
The file holds every order loaded on the page that matches your channel filter, also the ones you have not scrolled to yet. When the count above the table says loaded so far, Order Flow has not loaded all your orders yet, and the ones still to load are not in the file. Scroll down the table until every order is loaded, as explained in What is Order Flow and what can I do there?, or use Export all.
A search for an order number does not narrow the file.
Export every order of your date range
- Click Export all.
- Your browser asks Are you sure? This will download all your orders in files of 750 orders each. Click OK.
- The files download one after another. Each holds up to 750 orders and is named generated.csv.
Your browser may ask whether the page may download several files. Allow it, and keep the tab open until the last file is in. No message tells you when the export is done.
The files hold every order placed in your date range. Export all does not follow your channel filter or a search. It also holds orders that the list on the page leaves out, such as cancelled orders, unpaid draft orders and in-person orders, so its files can have more orders than the count above the table.
What is in the file
- One row per order. The column names are the names TrueROAS stores the order details under, for example orderNumber, orderType, orderId, customerId, purchaseValue, email, status, items, source, shipping, currency, tax, firstTouch, lastTouch and created. Files from Export all also start with an id column.
- orderType reads New Customer or Returning customer.
- purchaseValue is the order's value after your tax, shipping and refund settings, not rounded. See Does TrueROAS include tax and shipping in my sales? and Can TrueROAS take refunds off my sales?.
- purchaseValue, tax and shipping are converted to your store currency, while currency names the currency the order was placed in. How orders in other currencies are converted is explained in Which currency and time zone do my numbers use?.
- created and updated are times written as one long number, the milliseconds since 1 January 1970 (UTC), not as readable dates.
- items, touchSessions and involvedCampaigns hold the products, the visits and the campaigns of the order, written as text in JSON format.
- firstTouch and lastTouch hold the ad ID or source name stored with the order. The channel names you see in the Credited to, First Touch and Last Touch columns are not in the file.
- The file can hold your customers' email addresses, so keep it somewhere safe.
Good to know
- Both buttons are greyed out while the list has no orders. If no loaded order matches your channel filter, Export downloads nothing.
- A column only appears in a file when the first order in that file has that detail, so a file can be missing a column such as email.
- Hide free orders applies to both buttons. See How do I hide free orders from my reports?.
- Everyone who can open Order Flow can use both buttons. Exporting changes nothing for anyone else on the store.
- You cannot pick the columns, the file name or another format such as Excel. Open the CSV file in your spreadsheet program instead.
- The Ads Manager has its own export, with one row per campaign, ad set or ad. See How do I export my campaign data to a CSV file?.
