How do I connect my Shopify store to TrueROAS?

Install the TrueROAS app on your Shopify store from the Shopify App card, then check that your visits and orders reach TrueROAS.

What the Shopify app does

A Shopify store connects to TrueROAS through the TrueROAS app for Shopify. Installing the app gives TrueROAS access to your store. The same access lets TrueROAS bring in your past orders, as described in How do I bring in orders from before I installed TrueROAS?.

Add your store to TrueROAS first. See How do I add a store to TrueROAS?. The install buttons below open the install for your store directly when the store was added with its myshopify.com address, for example mystore.myshopify.com.

Install the app from General Settings

  1. Click General Settings at the bottom of the left menu and open the Store Settings tab.
  2. Under Store Platforms, find the Shopify App card (Connect your Shopify store via the Shopify App Store) and click Install.
  3. A new browser tab opens with the install of the TrueROAS app for your store.
  4. Approve the install in Shopify. You are then sent back to TrueROAS.

Install the app from the Setup TrueROAS panel

The Setup TrueROAS panel has the same install as the first step of its Shopify checklist. Open the panel with Continue Setup on the setup card at the top of the Dashboard, or with the Setup Progress button at the bottom of the screen. More about the panel is in How do I set up TrueROAS for the first time?.

  1. Find Connect via Shopify App, with the text Install the TrueROAS app from the Shopify App Store to grant full access. You will be redirected back to TrueROAS after installation.
  2. Click Install Shopify App. The install opens in a new browser tab.
  3. Approve the install in Shopify.
  4. Once TrueROAS has access to your store, the step reads Shopify App Connected and is ticked by itself.

I've done this next to the button ticks the step by hand. The step then also reads Shopify App Connected, but the tick only changes the checklist. Until TrueROAS really has access to your store, an Undo button stays under the step.

The setup card at the top of the Dashboard also has an install button. See What does the setup card at the top of the Dashboard mean?.

After installing

  1. Turn on the TrueROAS Tracker app embed and set TrueROAS to Always on in your Shopify admin. TrueROAS cannot do these two steps for you. See How do I turn on the TrueROAS Tracker app embed and Always on in Shopify?.
  2. Check that it works. The Setup TrueROAS panel shows Shopify App Connected with no Undo button under it, and the setup card on the Dashboard shows whether visits and orders are coming in. See What does the setup card at the top of the Dashboard mean?.
  3. Bring in your past orders. See How do I bring in orders from before I installed TrueROAS?.

Good to know

  • The connection is for the whole store, so everyone on the store sees its visits and orders. A tick you set with I've done this is saved for your login on this store only.
  • The Shopify App card does not show whether the app is installed. Check the Setup TrueROAS panel or the setup card instead, as described under After installing.
  • The Shopify App card shows on every store, also on WooCommerce and other stores. Only use it for a Shopify store.
  • There is no button in TrueROAS to disconnect Shopify. The app is managed in your Shopify admin.
  • If TrueROAS loses access to your Shopify store later, for example after the app was uninstalled, a Reconnect your Shopify store window opens. See Why are my newest orders or ad spend not showing yet?.
  • The Store Settings tab is part of General Settings, which needs your Settings permission set to View or Edit. See What is General Settings and what can I do there?.
  • Ad platforms are connected separately, on the Integrations page. See What is the Integrations page and what can I do there?.
