What is Order Flow and what can I do there?

A tour of Order Flow, the page that lists the orders of your date range with where each came from, and how to filter, search and export them.

What Order Flow shows

Order Flow lists the orders placed in your date range, one per row, newest first. Each row shows the order's amount, cost and products, the channel the order is credited to, and where the customer first and last came from. Attribution is how TrueROAS decides which ad or channel gets the credit for a sale.

To open it, click Analysis in the left menu, then Order Flow. Hover over the menu item to read Inspect individual order journeys, sources, and attributed revenue. The View all orders button on the Recent Orders card and Go to Orders page in the order window of the Ads Manager open Order Flow too. Where each page sits in the menu is explained in How do I find pages in the menu and fold it in?.

The page from top to bottom

  1. The date range button in the top right corner. Every order on the page was placed in this period, counted in your store's time zone. See How do I change the date range?.
  2. On the left, the buttons Credited to, First touch and Last touch, with the Channel field next to them. Together they narrow the list to the orders of one channel. The line under them says what the picked button means, for example Reflects your E-Commerce model. See How do I show only the orders from one channel?.
  3. The order count, for example 200 Orders, explained in the next section.
  4. Export and Export all on the right, which download your orders as CSV files. See How do I export my orders to a CSV file?.
  5. The order table, with the columns Order, Date, Amount, Cost, Products, Credited to, First Touch, Last Touch and Customer Journey. See What do the columns in Order Flow mean?.

The order count

The bold number above the table counts the orders in the list that are worth more than 0, after your tax, shipping and refund settings.

  • A small note such as 3 zero value orders counts the orders in the list that are worth less than 1, such as free orders. They stay in the table.
  • With a channel picked, the count reads for example 12 of 200 Orders.
  • While more orders are waiting to load, the words loaded so far follow the count. Scroll down in the table to load them.
  • While you search for an order number, the count reads for example 1 result for #1234.

See more orders

  • TrueROAS loads your orders in batches of up to 200, newest first.
  • The table shows the first 25 orders and adds more as you scroll down inside it. When you reach the end of the loaded orders, the next batch loads by itself, with grey bars at the bottom of the table while it loads.
  • If the next batch does not load by itself, click Load More Orders at the bottom of the table.
  • The table scrolls inside its own box, up to 80% of the screen height, and the column names stay at the top while you scroll.

While the page loads

  • A thin bar runs along the top of the screen, and grey bars stand in for the table until your orders appear.
  • Right after the orders appear, Credited to can read Other source on every order for a moment, until TrueROAS has worked out which channel gets the credit. If an order keeps showing Other source, see Why does an order show Direct, Other source or a channel I did not expect?.
  • Order Flow loads your orders when you open it, and again when you change the date range or one of the settings listed under Good to know. It does not add new orders while it is open, so reload the page to see orders placed since you opened it.

Before you add a store

Until you add a store, Order Flow shows 20 sample orders numbered #mock-1 to #mock-20, with made-up amounts and dates from the last 30 days. They change each time the page loads. To add your own store, see How do I add a store to TrueROAS?.

If you still see these sample orders after you added a store, your own orders did not load. See Why is an order missing from Order Flow?.

On a phone

  • On screens narrower than 900 px, the date range button moves to the top of the page and stretches across it, with the filter buttons under it.
  • On a phone, the three filter buttons stretch across the screen and the Channel field sits under them.
  • The table keeps all nine columns. Swipe sideways inside the table to see them all.
  • Touch and hold an item, such as the item count under Products, to see its tooltip.
  • The journey window fills the whole screen.

Ask Trew about your orders

When you open Trew Media Buyer in the panel next to Order Flow and the chat is still empty, Trew suggests Which sources drive first-time customers?, How long is the path to purchase on average? and Which orders were assisted by more than one ad? Click one to send it. See What is Trew Media Buyer and how do I use it?.
